Nancy Vensko joined the firm in January 2009 and has practiced patent law over 15 years. She is admitted to practice in California and registered before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Nancy works in the firm’s intellectual property department.

Background:

Nancy studied biological sciences and earned a B.A. degree in English at the University of California, Santa Barbara, received a teaching credential in Science and English from San Francisco State University, and attended the University of California, Berkeley, to be awarded a post-baccalaureate degree in Zoology. She earned a M.S. degree in Cancer Biology from Stanford University, School of Medicine. Before attending law school, Nancy worked as a research scientist at Salk Institute Biotechnology/Industrial Associates, Inc. Nancy obtained her J.D. degree from California Western School of Law, where she served as a staff writer for the California Western Law Review, a participant in the G.S. Rich Moot Court Competition, and a judicial extern for the Honorable D.R. Thompson, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Prior to joining the firm, Nancy was the managing partner in the San Luis Obispo office of Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear, LLP. There, she managed its engagement by the National Institutes of Health for patent legal services. She joined that firm after a time as in-house patent counsel for Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where she co-authored Defense of Aesthetic Functionality in Protecting Trade Dress (Dorr & Munch).

Nancy lives with her husband George in a canyon in Arroyo Grande, and was raised in San Luis Obispo County since first grade.
