The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner brought a big surprise to SJLM Partner Dave Juhnke last night as he was named the 2011 Citizen of the Year. Dave was recognized for his leadership to a wide spectrum of community organizations, serving on countless boards and committees, as president or chair for many of them. His efforts to help found the Friends of the Prado Day Center and to bridge a funding shortfall that threatened the survival of the SLO YMCA were cited as examples of his exemplary contributions. Dave was clearly stunned by the announcement and by the sudden appearance of his twin sons, Chris & Drew, who had come down from Stanford for the occasion. In receiving the award, Dave gave thanks to his parents who instilled the value of community service in their children and to his wonderful wife Sharon who has supported all of his work through their 30 years of marriage. All of us at SJLM are very proud of Dave, who is so deserving of this recognition!

Josh Martin, an attorney in our litigation department, was recently selected to
become an ambassador for the Arroyo Grande Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Ambassadors are an active and lively group that keeps members connected to the Chamber. They greet members at Chamber events and make them feel welcome, attend ribbon cuttings and mixers, and stay in contact with their “Chamber buddies” who are assigned to committee members at the beginning of each year.
Josh is excited to take on a leadership position in the Chamber and looks forward to working with members of the business community in the Five Cities area.
